2k Mech Guard

Time for a change.. Here's a mech guard list I've had in mind for a long, long time now.

Guard list

Command HQ, 3 melta guns, astropath, ML/HF chimera: 165
Command HQ, 4 melta guns, ML/HF chimera: 145

Veteran squad, 3 flamers, ML/HF chimera: 140
Veteran squad, 3 flamers, ML/HF chimera: 140
Veteran squad, 3 flamers, ML/HF chimera: 140

2x vendetta with heavy bolters: 280
2x vendetta with heavy bolters: 280
2x devildog with hull HF and smoke: 250

Manticore: 160
2x hydra, hull HB: 150
2x hydra, hull HB: 150


It gunlines. The vet squads don't have meltaguns because the list only has few scoring troops, and you don't want to sacrifice them taking out enemy vehicles.

The two command HQs and devildogs're there to block movement while the rest of the list pounds away. The manticore is there for extra ranged anti AV14, but most importantly to make your opponent afraid of bunching up.

Another better list may trade the two devildogs for inquisitorial stormtroopers in rhinos. Two times 120 points nets you two scoring meltagun units that can use the TLing order from the command HQ squads (when they're outside of their rhinos, of course).
